Roots

and care

With shapes, colours, and materials perfectly in tune with the surrounding scenery, the Winery reflects Filodivino’s philosophy. The lower floor, partially below ground, houses the cellar and winemaking equipment, while the upper floor with the terrace and garden is given over to get-togethers, wine tastings, workshops, and guided tours. The sincerity of wood and the transparency of glass connect the two sections with one another, and both to the outside.

People

Luca D’Attoma, an oenologist of international renown and an expert in Biodynamic viticulture, has been working with Filodivino since 2021, to accompany us along the whole productive cycle, from vineyard, to blending, to bottle. Working with him is a team of veterans of the terroir and young professionals, starting with vintner Marco Scarponi, sommelière Erika Avaltroni and sales director Matteo Acmè.

Our method

We harvest our grapes exclusively by hand, in boxes, with up to three passes on each row to make sure that only perfectly mature grapes are harvested. This method is quite demanding and not very common in this area, but we find it is essential to quality. We intervene as little as possible post-harvest, to preserve the unique features of each vintage – even the most difficult ones.

Production

In the cellar, grapes from each different harvest are kept separate in small steel vats: each will go through its own ageing process up to the moment of blending. In the next room are the vats for ageing: concrete egg vats, clay amphorae, French wooden tonneaux and small barriques, conical trunk vats of untoasted oak.

The project

Our winery was designed by architect Cristiana Dell’Acqua: the project earned her the prestigious InArchitettura Award 2023 from the Italian National Institute of Architecture. The building is designed with sustainability in mind: the colours, materials, and construction techniques employed reduce its impact on the surrounding landscape, while the underground portion provides the thermal insulation required for winemaking with a minimal use of energy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Filodivino winery located?

The Filodivino winery, along with the Wine Resort & Spa, is located in San Marcello, a few kilometers from Jesi, in the province of Ancona, in the heart of the Marche region and the production areas of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba.

Is it possible to visit the winery?

Yes, you can visit the winery and take in the views of Filodivino’s vineyards in Italy by participating in the experiences offered at the estate, which can be found in the “Experiences” section of this website. These opportunities allow you to enjoy a complete experience among the vineyards, wine, and the heart of Italy, ideal for those who wish to discover a winery in the Marche region surrounded by nature. All the experiences offered by Filodivino include a wine tasting, allowing you to discover the winery’s wines and enjoy an authentic wine experience amidst the vineyards and the area.

How is Filodivino wine produced?

The production of Filodivino wine follows a meticulous approach that respects the local terroir, based on organic viticulture in hills of central Italy and artisanal winemaking techniques. The grapes, grown in the estate’s vineyards, are hand-harvested and carefully selected during the harvest—sometimes requiring multiple passes along the same row—to ensure that only perfectly ripe clusters are brought to the winery. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, mainly in stainless steel or terracotta amphorae, to preserve the identity of the grape variety and the territory. Each wine then follows its own aging process until bottling.

What is the winery’s production philosophy?

Thanks to its collaboration with winemaker Luca D’Attoma, Filodivino’s production philosophy is clear and uncompromising: to practice healthy and responsible viticulture, minimize intervention and processing in the winery, and allow the characteristics of each grape variety and vintage to shine through in wines that are clean, fresh, complex, and always exceptionally elegant.

Does the winery use grapes from the estate’s vineyards?

Yes, 100% of the grapes used by Filodivino to produce its wines are grown on the estate’s own vineyards. This direct control over the entire production chain, from vineyard to winery, ensures quality and consistency, resulting in authentic wines from the area that are closely tied to the territory and the characteristics of the San Marcello vineyards.

Are wine tastings available at the winery?

Yes, Filodivino organizes wine tastings in the heart of Italy, in San Marcello, allowing you to sample the winery’s flagship wines right where they’re made. The tastings include a selection of wines representative of the winery’s production, particularly Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC, for which the region is best known.
